Buena Vista County carries out a roadside weed spraying program and enforces the Iowa noxious weed laws. County employees maintain a spray truck and spot spray all the road ditches in the county. If Buena Vista County residents do not wish to have an area sprayed, they are required to sign a "Do Not Spray Permit" annually and post signs at the beginning and end of the no spray area. Ribbons are attached to signs and colors are changed annually. To obtain a permit, signs, and ribbons contact the conservation office by calling 712 - 295 -7985. If a permit is signed, the county resident is responsible for weed control.
